Useful Tips

Life after the exam

Hello dear graduates and students! Surely you are already in full swing preparing for the exams and already know in which university you will study. A new series of posts dedicated to you, future freshmen, starts on the site for you. We recommend subscribing to blog updates so that you don’t miss the most interesting 🙂 And now we’ll talk about the main components of your upcoming university studies. I think that studying at a university seems to be “magic outside of Hogwarts” for you 😀 and you don’t know exactly what awaits you in September.

How to prepare for training? What to take with you if you leave your home, leaving for an unfamiliar city? How much money does it take to live a human life? How not to “fly out” after the first session, and why can this happen? I will try to answer these and many other questions in the series of posts “Experienced Tips :)”.

So, let’s imagine that you have successfully passed the bloody USE, now you are no longer some kind of “grader” 🙂 - you are a student! Now you are waiting for new tests: independent life, a possible move, a change of scenery, most likely, introductory.

Naturally, the student will have to somehow survive: to cook for himself, to run his own, albeit small, farm, skillfully distribute finances, solve his problems on his own - this is the very “adult life” that you heard about so much in your childhood. Do you think you are ready for it? Write in the comments))

And now we will touch upon such an urgent topic as preparation for studying at a university, because many do not know what to do and how to be (We will put everything on the shelves! Let's start with)

First of all, you must mentally prepare yourself for the changes in your life. Surely, you have acquaintances, students, relatives who have either already unlearned or are currently studying. Put one of them nearby and ask: “Vasya, how is it to be a student? : D ”and, I think, our Vasya will definitely answer you)) Also, if you are leaving for another city and all your life your parents have been doing for you, take over all their housework responsibilities in the summer. They will be happy, believe me 🙂. Yes, and you experience. If there is no such problem, go ahead!

Also take care of the intellectual preparation in the summer. You don’t need to sit in front of a zomboyasch all summer or spend all the time on the street, talking trite with friends. Why do something in the last summer before the "adult life"? I'll explain now. For example, let’s take the Faculty of History, in order to enroll in it, only Russian history is handed over to the USE, but if you look at the website of the Faculty of History and open a curriculum, you will see that ¾ of the program will be occupied by world history. To confirm these words, here is part of the schedule of my faculty)

Let us return to our example, if you are in the general history of “not boom-boom”, then summer is a great opportunity to restore order in your head before learning.

I think now you can guess why many 1-year students are expelled based on the poor results of the first session (and it happens even earlier!). Because they still didn’t understand that they were studying at a university, where no one would develop knowledge and put it in your mouth. Severe, but such is the reality).

Let's talk about the financial side. Again, find through the same VC a person who is studying at the university where you want to go. Ask them, satisfy your curiosity and be sure to ask how much money is necessary for a normal life if you go to study in another city. I think they will not refuse you and tell the whole truth 🙂

Learn to save in the summer before school, try to distribute your finances in such a way that it is not so that you spend most of the week, and you need to live on something else three weeks before the next scholarship)

It would also be very good if you find yourself some way to earn money. It may not necessarily be some kind of distribution of leaflets, in fact, there are many options. If you want to learn more about this in a separate post, then like it, so we will know if this is relevant for you or not.

Thank. Your opinion has been taken into account.

Remember how you went to the stationery store in August when you were in elementary school, and came back from where with bags of colored paper, cardboard, pencils and so on. Of course, the student needs a minimum (what to write, and what to write on), but in large volumes. Just one day, buy paper blocks and pens. Also, get yourself a tablet or ultrabook + a compact printer for printing abstracts, cursors, recording lectures, etc.

So, today we examined four points of preparation for training, which can be performed in the summer, necessary for a successful start to student life. Write in the comments questions that were not found in this post, we will answer them in the following. Until)

What is the task of tutors?

The tutor is designed to give you the material so that you understand it quickly. That is, this is a person who is able to identify the gaps in your knowledge and help you fill them in a short time.

A competent tutor has his own methods by which he has been optimizing the flow of material for several years, this allows him to perform small miracles. But, unfortunately, even the best teacher can not make you learn if you do not make efforts. It is in your power to spend money on a tutor as efficiently as possible, to ensure that the rate of assimilation of the material will be very high.

How to deal effectively with a tutor?

Get ready for the lesson in advance. Ask the teacher a plan of topics, a strategy by which he plans to prepare you for the exam or any other exam. Try to study the topic before the lesson on your own, so that in the lesson you will touch on it more deeply and eliminate the questions that arise.

Do your homework. In this case, no matter how lazy or bored you are, this is necessary. Homework in this case combines the function of laboratory work and seminar. So you can understand what specific nuances were left overboard.

Look for applications of one discipline in another, try to understand why you are given any information. You are given a non-random list of items that you should know. Physics cannot be understood without mathematics; biology is difficult to master without an understanding of chemistry. Yes, in the framework of the school curriculum, often, you have to take a lot of “faith”. But still, try to understand the process as deep as possible, do not be afraid to ask your teacher about this. The better you understand the interconnectedness of disciplines, the better you will understand the processes that you study, the less you will have to memorize.

Interestingly, the ability to find the relationship between different at first glance disciplines will greatly help you in mastering the profession at the university. The material that you are given in one subject is often closely related to the tasks that you will have to solve in another.

We hope these tips help you quickly adapt to your harsh student life!
