How to dial a number to call to the USA from a landline phone to a cell phone or from a mobile phone to a landline is clear by analogy with the above examples.

Practice has shown that everyone's instinct is developed differently, so I write in more detail.

To call to the USA you need to dial 8 - this means that the call is not local. It is necessary to wait for a beep. Then you need to dial 10 - this says that the call will be international and then the US phone code will be indicated.

+ a sign that is used in GSM mobile phones to replace the international access code from any country.

It should be noted right away that 10 is access to the international connection for OJSC Rostelecom. For other operators, the international dialing code will be different. For example, 56 - SCS Sovintel LLC, 57 - TransTeleCom Company CJSC, 58 - MTT OJSC, 59 - Equant LLC.

Attention: number 8 and further the international access code described above are applicable only to Russia. In other countries, a different system for entering the international line has been adopted.

After that, dial the country code (US dialing code - 1) At this point, we got on the US domestic telephone line.

Now it remains only to dial the telephone code of the city we want to call, and finally, the local telephone number of the US subscriber.

US State Phone Codes

State code represents a three-digit prefix. In each state, the number of state codes depends on the size and distribution of its inhabitants. For example, states with lower populations, such as Idaho, have fewer area codes, and more densely populated states, such as New York, have much more codes.

Currently, most French telephone service providers offer the “telephone over the Internet” service, which usually includes international calls to 70 or more countries (depending on the operator) in a monthly subscription. This means that a fixed fee in the region of 30-40 euros per month already includes the cost of calls to landlines outside France, quite often “free” calls to the USA and the UK are possible to landlines and cell phones. In other countries, calls to mobile phones are charged at the rate of international call to mobile phone.
Check the list of countries, calls to which are included in your subscription agreement when connecting a landline phone.
Calls from a landline at the hotel are the most expensive since Hotels determine the cost of the call at their discretion.

Payphones can be found everywhere in France, usually a telephone booth or a desk with a pay phone. From a payphone, you can call any number around the world using a special telephone card that can be bought at tobacco shops (tabac), at the post office (la poste) and in internet cafe (hybercafé). As a rule, Internet cafes offer the widest selection of cards for a payphone with a very low cost of calls. In addition, many payphones provide the ability to pay for a call with a credit card, which must be inserted directly into the payphone. In this case, the tariffs for calls will be higher than when using a special telephone card.

Internet calls

Perhaps the cheapest type of telephone service. The choice of IP-telephony operator is at your discretion, most often Skype is used. Of course, to use this type of communication you need at least a connection to the Internet. Currently, many cafes, hotels and airports offer an Internet connection, usually with a special paid or free code.

Using communications from Russian operators

Depending on the operator, calls in roaming to Russia and the CIS countries can cost fabulous money. However, more and more Russian operators offer special “fares for travelers”, with which you can save a lot of money. Consult with your mobile operator about such offers before traveling abroad.

Attention: Do not forget to disable the service upon returning to Russia!

Using communications from French operators

If you often come to the Cote d'Azur or plan to stay here long enough and talk a lot on the phone, it may make sense to purchase a prepaid SIM card from a French operator (carte SIM sans engagement). These SIM cards are offered by all mobile operators, the Darty electronics store and the Virgin book network also offer their own cellular services, which include prepaid cards.

Payment for communication services is made as they are used, and you can call immediately after entering the code from the prepaid card. Prepaid cards - usually in the form of a small paper coupon similar to a cash receipt - are sold in many stores, supermarkets, tobacco (tabac) and newspaper shops (presse).

Entering a code from a card may not be the easiest thing, as you need to call a special three-digit number and, after listening to the instructions in French, dial the code in the right place, followed by pressing the pound or asterisk buttons, depending on the operator. Some operators offer the ability to enter a code by sending an SMS message to a special number. Specify the conditions for entering the code when buying a prepaid SIM card.

All incoming calls to these numbers will be free.

In some cases, it is advisable to purchase a SIM card with a subscription agreement (often offered with a telephone at a significantly reduced price).

A call from a hotel to Russia will cost much more than a call from a pay phone. In France, they are ubiquitous. Payphones are not only in large cities, but also in small French villages. Pay phones are of two types.

The most common are publiphon, which call is paid using a special telephone card. They are sold at kiosks, supermarkets, subway and post offices and cost 8-20 €. A call to Russia will cost you about € 1.5 (60 rubles) per minute.

Much less often in France there are machines of another type, point-phone, working on coins. They are usually installed in restaurants and bars.

Local sim card

Mobile communications in France are expensive. It is represented by three large companies Orange, Bouygues Telecom and SFR.

A local sim card costs 10-30 €, while about 5 € appears on the account. The account is replenished using prepaid cards. They are sold in communication stores, kiosks, supermarkets. Cards are valid for a certain period after which the amount burns out: 5 € (1 week), 10 € (15 days), 15 € (month).

Connection with Russia

Outgoing call: 0.50 € / min.
Incoming calls are free.

Phone numbers, codes and types of telephone communication

According to general standards, France starts the phone number for incoming international calls with a “+” sign and a “33” code. Thus, to dial French from abroad, you must enter the first three characters “+33” and then a ten-digit phone number. That is, when asked how to call France, there is a short answer: “+ 33-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx”, where “xx-xx-xx-xx-xx” is the French number. According to this scheme, you can either call to France from a landline phone or from a mobile phone.

It should be noted that all telephone numbers of the country are ten-digit, and mobile operators, and landline telephony. The exception is only short four-digit numbers, incoming calls to which are paid and paid at a special rate. France has made commercial telephone numbers available for domestic use only; it is not possible to call a four-digit number from abroad.

The French are used to calling phone numbers as paired numbers, which sounds somewhat unusual for our fellow citizens.

France phone number example: 11-22-33-44-55

The Russians would pronounce it like this: 112- 233-44-55

The exit code for international numbers from France is “00”, then the country code is dialed

And then directly the phone number.

FRANCE landline telephone numbers

Intercity phone codes of France do not exist separately. The role of the long-distance code is performed by the first two digits of the number:

  • 01 - Paris and Ile de France
  • 02 - Northwest Regions
  • 03 - northeastern regions
  • 04 - southeastern regions
  • 05 - southwestern regions

Unlike the countries of the former USSR, the region code is dialed when making calls in one city.

In Monaco, the numbers are eight-digit, for calls there you should dial the international code of the Principality 00377, even if the call is made from France. But when dialing within the country, the code is entered without the first zero - 0377.

Other codes of France

  • 06 - mobile operators
  • 08 - France phones with separate rates. This may include various services with tariffs similar to regular city numbers, as well as very expensive commercial numbers, which are usually in the range 089. For codes 08, only France is available. Telephone numbers of this range are not valid for calls from abroad.
  • 09 - VoIP Telephony

But tourists who come to France are primarily interested in pay phones. Pay phones can be found at every step, even in the seemingly plain village itself. In small towns pay phones need to be searched in the central squares, in large - at railway stations, metro stations, in large shopping centers,. Coin machines have almost gone down in history; they can only be found in stylized cafes or bars. Basically, the devices work on special cards, which, like recharge cards for mobile communications, are available in tobacco shops, newsstands, and by mail. Prepaid cards for pay phones and Internet cafes are for sale. It is in these establishments that the widest selection of cards with different denominations, and the price of calls on them is the lowest. Many devices are equipped with a receiver for fucking bank cards. Payment for the call is made directly from the bank account, but the cost of such calls is higher than when paying by phone card

In the coverage area of most telephone sets and telephone numbers of foreign operators, that is, both domestic (within the country) and international (worldwide) communications are available. Payphones can be made in two forms: a standard telephone booth, usually glass, and a modern stand with a pay phone.

FRANCE Internet Telephony Phone Numbers

At the moment, the most profitable and cheapest are calls over the Internet. There are several popular IP telephony clients: Skype, Viber, Telegram. Of course, this type of connection requires an Internet connection, which is paid separately. Now many cafes, hotels, train stations, airports and just public places give out free Wi-Fi. In this case, calls within the network become generally free. Restaurants and hotels can restrict access to the network only to their customers or sell an access code. For availability of paid or free Wi-Fi coverage, ask the administration of the institution.
